Check The ScheduleThis class meets Idaho's training requirement for the Enhanced Concealed Weapons License. It is built on USCCA's Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals curriculum — the course more than 1 million Americans have taken — with Idaho-specific law added, and it is taught by a retired law enforcement officer with 24 years on the job. You spend about six hours in the classroom and one to two hours on the range with live fire, and a catered lunch is provided so you never have to leave the facility.
You leave with your signed Idaho training form — the document the sheriff's office requires with your Enhanced License application.
Why the Enhanced License Is Worth One Sunday
Idaho lets you carry without a permit. So why take a class? Because the Enhanced license does things permitless carry and the standard license can't:

What You'll Learn:
Is This Class for You?
Yes, if you are an Idaho resident who wants the Enhanced Concealed Weapons License; a new carrier who wants the legal and safety foundation before carrying every day; a permitless or standard-license carrier who wants to upgrade; a student or staff member who needs to carry on an Idaho public college campus; or anyone who travels out of state and wants their permit recognized.
Not yet, if you have never handled a firearm. You need to be able to safely load, unload and operate the handgun you bring. If that's not you yet, take Pistol Essentials first — then come back for this one. Call or text Chris at 208-704-2355 if you're not sure which class to start with.
What to Bring
The magazines, speed-loaders and ammunition above are requirements, not suggestions — you will confirm each one at registration. The class runs on a tight schedule and everyone moves through the range portion together, so a student who arrives without the required equipment will not pass and will need to reschedule and retake the class.
Location & Arrival
Class is held at the Fernan Rod & Gun Club, 11600 Fernan Lake Rd, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83815. The facility gates run on an automatic schedule and close shortly before class begins, and late arrivals cannot be admitted — so plan to arrive early. Exact gate times and turn-by-turn directions are on the registration page for each class date.

Pistol Essentials, then Next Level Pistol, then Real World Scenarios. The license proves you met the standard; those classes build the skill behind it.
More than 14 days before class: full refund. Between 14 and 5 days before class: full credit toward a future Make Ready class. Within 5 days of class, or a no-show: no refund or credit. Emergencies happen — call or text (208) 704-2355 before class and we will do our best to help.
If you ever cross into Washington or travel out of state, yes. The Enhanced license is honored in 39 states versus roughly 25 for the standard license, and it is the only way to carry on Idaho public college campuses.
You will leave with your signed Idaho training form. Take it to your county sheriff's office with your application; they handle fingerprinting and the background check and issue the license. The license is valid for 5 years.
A modern-day handgun is recommended — for example, a Glock 17 or Glock 19 — one that is reliable, serviceable and that you can shoot comfortably. Bring at least three magazines (enough capacity to fire 30 rounds without reloading) and at least 100 rounds of factory ammunition in your handgun's caliber. Revolver shooters need speed-loaders.
Very. Range time is one to two hours at a pace set for a certification class, not a competition. The goal is to confirm safe handling and basic accuracy — nobody is timed against anyone else.
Yes. You need to be able to safely handle and operate the handgun you will be using in class. If you have never handled a firearm before, take Pistol Essentials first, then come back for this one.
